Course Description:
Ceramics is an upper level course in which students will learn how to use the elements and principles of art and apply them using a variety of clay building techniques (art production) including hand building and wheel-throwing (in classroom only). Students will study the historical and cultural influences on art (art history). They will also explore the philosophical nature of art (aesthetics) and learn how to make critical judgments about art (art criticism). Students should have successfully completed a year of Ceramics 1 as a prerequisite for Ceramics 2.
